We continue the series of desserts using as a base the masses crépes light, etc.

A beignet (short for beigne, donut in French) is a sweet which is made by dipping a piece of fruit or vegetable in a fairly liquid and fried in oil mass.

Apple Beignet

Ingredients



  • 250g self-rising flour.
  • 1 pinch salt
  • lemon 1
  • eggs 3
  • White vinegar 1 tablespoon
  • 150 ml milk.
  • Apples 3 units
  • Oil for frying Necessary Amount
  • Sugar Necessary Amount
  • Canela Cn





Process

Mix the flour and salt. Add the lemon zest to the egg and vinegar, add the sifted flour with milk.


Cut apples into slices half a centimeter thick, remove the center and sprinkle with lemon juice.


Spending apples for pasta and fry in hot oil, brown them on both sides.

Drain on paper and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.



A bit of Origin or history of fritters


The beignets tradition dates back to the Roman festivals of the Kalends of March, celebrating the awakening of nature by agricultural rites. For this reason, the prohibitions are violated and costumes were allowed.

Before the period of fasting forty days, it was customary to celebrate the feast and eat fatty. Hence it comes the Mardi Gras (fat Tuesday), which precedes Lent and corresponds to Spanish Carnival Tuesday.

As the party gathered a large number of people, it was necessary to make cheap sweets and fast food. It was also exhausting the butter, oil, eggs and others before the forty days of fasting. Hence the tradition of beignets and the waffles and crepes.
